About halo & kin
Halo & Kin is all about helping young people show up as their full, powerful selves. We create experiences that spark confidence, creativity, and emotional intelligence—whether it’s in the classroom, the community, or wherever their journey takes them.
We believe in leading with heart and building with purpose. Our work lives at the intersection of self-expression, leadership, and real-life relevance. When young people feel seen and supported, they don’t just dream—they build.
Our approach is simple: it’s authentic, emotionally intelligent, and transformational. We co-create moments that matter—with care, intention, and meaning.
We’re here to activate, uplift, and stay invested—because young people deserve more than inspiration. They deserve tools, space, and belief.
Halo & Kin is where purpose meets possibility.
Our Founder

My mission is to create and nurture possibilities that give everyone a fair chance to be their best.
-Desi Okeke, Founder
How we see ourselves shapes how we move through the world- and that's where my work begins.
Through Halo & Kin, I design and lead immersive, human- centered experiences that help young people build confidence, develop clarity and step into the most powerful version of themselves.
To date, I’ve reached 2,000+ students across schools and community organizations in New Jersey and New York, delivering experiences that don't just inspire, but equip people with tools they can use immediately.
What makes my approach different is the career I brought with me. Over 25 years as a senior leader at companies like Mars Wrigley and Unilever, and as an invited guest lecturer at leading universities - gave me something most youth development practitioners don't have: a deep, firsthand understanding of what professional excellence, communication, and self-awareness actually looks like in the real world. Those rooms taught me what young people are rarely taught- how to communicate with authority, lead through uncertainty, and know your own value before someone else defines it for you.
The social and emotional skills I teach - resilience, self-regulation, identity, and purpose - aren't frameworks I studied. They're tools I needed, used, and refined across 25 years of high-stakes environments before I ever walked into a classroom. I don't teach theory. I teach what works in the rooms I've been in.
Today my work spans two connected spaces. In schools and community organizations, I work with students and emerging leaders to develop identity, leadership, and future readiness.
With educators and professional teams, I facilitate staff professional development sessions that strengthen communication, self-leadership, and team culture.
In both settings I bring a storytelling-based, emotionally intelligent approach - because I believe inner stability and outward success are inseparable.
I meet students where they are and guide them toward who they're becoming.
How We Work
Halo & Kin is supported by a growing network of experienced facilitators, educators, and coaches allowing us to expand and tailor experiences based on the needs of each organization.
